“The Senate of the United States is the only legislative body in the world which cannot act when its majority is ready for action.”
“I thought I knew everything. I didn’t get it. . . . I am here to say I was totally wrong,” claims Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) on her previous support against using filibusters for judicial nominations.
“The president and the nominee and all Americans deserve an up-or-down vote, the filibuster rules are unconstitutional,” once declared Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA).
Former Senator Tom Daschel once said, “democracy means majority rule, not minority gridlock.”
Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) said “senators who believe in fairness will not let the minority of the Senate deny [the nominee] his vote by the entire Senate.”
These statements were all made when the Dem’s had majority rule in the Senate. Of course, that’s as plain as the eye makeup on Ms. Boxer’s face or the alcohol on Teddy’s breath!
A high-ranking official of the Communist Vietnamese government was honored on the floor of the California State Assembly. Democratic Speaker Fabian Nunez apparently thought nothing of officially recognizing Phung Huu Phu, chairman of the Hanoi People’s Parliament, during a legislative session. The Speaker hugged the Communist Chairman on the assembly floor.
