Moonbat of the Week

by @ 10:22 am. Filed under Elections, Moonbat Awards, Politics

Rudy Giuliani (R-NY) - 2008 Presidential Candidate

Republican presidential contender Rudy Giuliani says if elected, he’d be open to his wife attending Cabinet meetings on issues in which she’s interested.

In an interview with Barbara Walters Friday on ABC News’ “20/20 Giuliani said, “If she wanted to. If they were relevant to something that she was interested in. I mean, that would be something that I’d be very, very comfortable with.”

Giuliani described his wife as a close adviser who has as much involvement in his campaign as she wants.

Asked if she would sit in on policy meetings, Mrs. Giuliani, who was a nurse, said: “If he asks me to, yes. And certainly in the areas of health care.”

Sound familiar?  In 1990s, first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton played a prominent role in her husband’s administration, including a failed effort on health care reform.

America doesn’t need “Two Presidents for the price of one vote” and Giuliani is providing more ammunition, along with his Leftist social views, not to consider him a viable Conservative candidate for President.

Setting a precedent that a First Lady somehow qualifies to sit in policy and cabinet meetings is beyond belief. Giuliani should run on issues and leave his third wife out of the mix, or at least the inner circle of the President.

Giuliana’s comments certainly qualify him for our Moonbat award, indeed.

Speaker Pelosi – In Terror’s Best Interest – Arrogance Above All Else

by @ 10:21 am. Filed under Foreign Affairs, Politics, War on Terror

WASHINGTON (AP) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will visit Syria, a country President Bush has shunned as a sponsor of terrorism, despite being asked by the administration not to go.”

In our view, it is not the right time to have these sort of high- profile visitors to Syria,” State Department spokesman Sean McCormack told reporters Friday.

Pelosi arrived in Israel on Friday in what is her second fact-finding trip to the Middle East since taking over leadership in the House in January.

Her repeat trip, an indication she plans to play a role in foreign policy, is also a direct affront to the administration, which says such diplomatic overtures by lawmakers can do more harm than good.

White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said the speaker “should take a step back and think about the message that it sends.”

“This is a county that is a state sponsor of terror, one that is trying to disrupt the Senora government in Lebanon and one that is allowing foreign fighters to flow into Iraq from its borders,” Perino said.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad “probably really wants people to come, and have a photo opportunity, and have tea with him, and have discussions about where they’re coming from. But we just think it’s a really bad idea,” Perino said.

U.S. officials held their first direct, high-level contact with Syrian representatives in years when they met in Baghdad this month with officials from several Middle East countries to discuss Iraq.Source: Associated Press What can Pelosi possibly do, acting like a diplomat and State Department official, while going against all common sense. This is no more than appeasing a terrorist State, while passing legislation to fund special interests and not the U.S. troops in harms way.

Pelosi is an embarrassment and should face harsh criticism publicly, but it will be up to the bloggers to give this story legs. She must make the Left-Wing Nut House proud while undermining the policies of the United States not to appease groups of terror.

Pelosi has embraced power in a dangerous way. She must pay political for this outrage.

In November 2006 Syria’s foreign minister called for….:

….a timetable for the withdrawal of American forces to help end Iraq’s sectarian bloodbath, in a groundbreaking diplomatic mission to Iraq that comes amid increasing calls for the United States to seek cooperation from Syria and Iran.

So Syria uses Liberal talking points while Nancy Pelosi and friends decide to have tea with terrorist Assad. How cozy, indeed!

I am particulary displeased with Rep. Hobson of Ohio, a Republican; by going on this ill-advised trip he is allowing Pelosi to call it “bi-partisan.” Please contact Hobson’s office in Lancaster Ohio by phone 740.654.5149, in Springfield Ohio at 937.325.0474 or write him  here. Help take back the GOP from Liberal participants who support Pelosi and not our troops.

John Kerry Swift Boat’s Nominee – Payback is Coming

by @ 5:01 pm. Filed under Elections, Military, Politics

The White Housewithdrew the nomination of Sam Fox to be Ambassador to Belgium this week, after it became clear the nominee would be defeated on a partisan vote in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. John Kerry led the opposition to Mr. Fox, a wealthy St. Louis businessman who had donated $50,000 to “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth” in 2004. But Mr. Fox may get the job anyway: Look for President Bush to send him to Belgium with a recess appointment sometime this year.

That would infuriate Democrats, who have been trying to stay in formal session even when they’re out of town to deny Mr. Bush recess appointment opportunities. But eventually the President will get his chance, and, at age 77, Mr. Fox has nothing to lose by accepting such an appointment. I’m told he’s amenable.

Mr. Kerry’s treatment of Mr. Fox hasn’t received much coverage outside the Wall Street Journal, but it deserves attention for the precedent it sets if Democrats take back the White House in 2008. Mr. Kerry demanded that Mr. Fox come to see him, bring his family, attend a meeting with the Senator’s Vietnam-era colleagues to hear their version of the Vietnam truth, and then publicly apologize. Mr. Fox declined the honor, saying the Swift Boat campaign was part of the normal give and take of modern politics.

Mr. Kerry called his defeat of Mr. Fox “a new day in political discourse.” I doubt it. More likely he has set a new standard of retribution for government service that will have Republicans sifting through the contributor lists to MoveOn.org and the like during the next Democratic Administration.
