Liberal Mantra, Class-Warfare – Marque Advice

by @ 10:05 am. Filed under Education, Politics

Actually it’s “Markey Advice”, excuse our play on words above.

Rep. Edward Markey (D-MA), Liberal personified, spoke at Boston College last week and gave the graduating law class some advice.

”You must find some ways to use your training to comfort the afflicted, and afflict the comfortable.”

As The Wall Street Journal notes, “Comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable” happens to be an old cliché about journalism; and to the extent it serves as a charge to be skeptical, as opposed to harass the unpopular, journalists can indulge this piece of liberal piety without doing much harm.

We believe the Liberal press uses this term much the way Mr. Markey, a lawyer and politician, used it. Markey addressed the future ambulance chasers with advice to comfort the afflicted but he didn’t mention anything about billable hours and comforting the coffers of law firms who sue ad nausea and the afflicted don’t see much in monetary comfort.

Another saying is, “The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.” Or, the lawyers get richer as well as the politicians.

According to Ed Markey and his Liberal ilk pursuing people who have worked their way up and made it in American society and afflicting them because these people might be too comfortable is the rode for lawyerly success.

“Bring us your poor, your tired, your huddled masses” should be about the opportunity in America to become comfortable through education, hard work and rising up from the ashes because you are in the land of opportunity and have made your way.

The very Liberal Mr. Markey and his ilk would have you believe someone who has become comfortable is bad, evil and should become “afflicted.”

Mr. Markey should know America is about taking advantage of opportunity, not punishing those who have. Excuse us again, we forgot Mr. Markey is a “progressive”!

Village Idiot Has Economic Plan – Move Over Karl Marx

by @ 7:24 am. Filed under Economics, Elections, Govt. Regulation, Politics

Hillary Clinton (D-NY) is back touting her plan for a Socialist society based on her village conundrum.

Welfare was shoved down husband Bill’s throat in the 90′s, which along with the Information Age provided stimulus for a good economy. Of course the Clinton’s would want to provide any credit to the Republican Congress for that great economy.

With record revenue pouring into the coffers at the Treasury, a steady economy with low inflation and interest rates, Ms. Clinton is out suggesting the “Two-America’s” theory needs consolidation, code for Social ideals from the “Progressives”, code for Karl Marx and Lenin.

“I prefer a ‘we’re all in it together’ society,” she said. “I believe our government can once again work for all Americans. It can promote the great American tradition of opportunity for all and special privileges for none.”

Sorry we couldn’t provide sound and the Hillary high-pitched whaling that accompanies her speeches. In any event, Clinton is suggesting a wider gap between taxing the wealthy and increased spending, code for Socialism.

Sure Clinton will come up with nice names for her plans such as “Universal Health Care”, which is simply a form of Social Welfare. A Clinton society, or “Village” would not encourage work, entrepreneurship or job creation; it would burden small business and discourage further reinvestment.

“There is no greater force for economic growth than free markets. But markets work best with rules that promote our values, protect our workers and give all people a chance to succeed,” she said. “Fairness doesn’t just happen. It requires the right government policies.”

Hillary Clinton needs to study Economics to understand free markets and taxing the so-called “rich” and spending for the poor and middle-class does not promote a free market society. Government policies are “Big Government” running the life of the average citizen and controlling business. This is a recipe for disaster and the FDR policies of the Progressives, which extended the Great Depression in this country, are no cure for what Clinton fantasizes as a poor economy.

In addition, Clinton would promote the unions that have done do much to help manage General Motors and Ford over the years and place an enormous burden on the U.S. auto makers to compete, which Ms. Clinton, is part of free market enterprise. The unions that Clinton is so attached to stifle competition and the overpaid UAW workers are either going to relent or lose more jobs.

“We have sent a message to our young people that if you don’t go to college … that you’re thought less of in America. We have to stop this,” Clinton said.

However, college is not the answer for every person in America. Skilled jobs could mean attending technical schools and learning trades through apprenticeship programs. Of course Ms. Clinton didn’t mention if you don’t go to college you could end up in Iraq.

Clinton also said she would help people save more money by expanding and simplifying the earned income tax credit; create new jobs by pursuing energy independence; and ensure that every American has affordable health insurance.

What Clinton is offering is Socialism and we would like to see her thesis on how pursuing energy independence would create more jobs. “Sound bites are nice but the Clinton rhetoric is no more than massive big government, huge social programs and stifling government regulation.

While Clinton has made millions, along with hubby Bill, selling her books the erstwhile social feminist has it in for CEO’s making money and wishes to control the boardrooms of publicly traded companies.

“It’s not as if America hasn’t been successful these last six years, but the measure of success does not relate to what’s happening in households across our country,” she said. “It’s like trickle down economics, without the trickle.”

Clinton admits the economy has been swell the last six years but the rich, like herself and Bill, are feeling guilty and wish to help pay for social programs with other peoples money. That’s progressive! Apparently they don’t teach economics at Wellesley or in the Senate.

Desperate Candidate – Bill Richardson’s Pants On Fire!

by @ 2:18 pm. Filed under Elections, Politics

Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire! Or….did I simply get good training from Bill Clinton?

From John Fund at OpinionJournal’s Political Diary [Subscription]

Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson can be glad that NBC’s Tim Russet picked Memorial Day for his ceremonial grilling of the New Mexico governor on “Meet the Press.” At least the TV audience was much smaller than on a typical weekend.

For starters, Mr. Richardson was put through the meat grinder over the contrast between his current call for a complete withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq and his statements in a book just 18 months ago that any such move would “undermine” the Iraqi government. Mr. Richardson denied there was any inconsistency and simply said: “There is no basis for us to be [in Iraq].”

The New Mexico governor next had to endure Mr. Russert’s recounting of a complaint by the mother of late Marine Lance Corporal Aaron Austin. She accused the governor of inventing an incident in which she had approached him to thank him for $11,000 in federal death benefits when her son was killed in Iraq. De’on Miller, Corporal Austin’s mother, insists she never approached Mr. Richardson with those comments and has demanded an apology. Rather than back down, Mr. Richardson emphasized the good the story has done for other soldiers and insists he simply has a “different recollection” about the conversation than Ms. Miller.

Things became even more heated when Mr. Russert pressed Mr. Richardson on the Senate compromise on illegal immigration that he had endorsed earlier this month. A mere three days later Mr. Richardson backtracked, claiming he hadn’t had a chance to read more than a summary of the bill before announcing his support.

Mr. Russert finished off his inquisition by referring to Mr. Richardson’s spotty record on protecting the nation’s nuclear secrets while he was Bill Clinton’s Secretary of Energy. Mr. Richardson responded with evasive maneuvers, pointing out that “air conditioning is 30% more energy efficient” because of an initiative he took to improve the performance of household appliances.

All in all, the interview clearly illustrated why so many people believe Mr. Richardson is actually running for vice president. His record is simply too thin and contradictory for the top job.

We concur adding that Mr. Richardson has the Kerry “flip-flop” down perfectly.
