Czar Power – What to Expect in 2011- Death Panels and More!

by @ 2:37 pm. Filed under Govt. Regulation, Health Care, Politics, U.S. Constitution

Dancing with Obama's Czars

I tried to tell some of the people standing up and cheering as if in a drunken stupor over the November 2010 mid-term elections. Talk radio hosts were giddy, pumping up their listeners providing only a hint of caution.

Now that reality is beginning to set in, we are in the last week of the 2010 Christmas and New Year’s season it’s not only a time to reflect on a year past but extremely important to prepare yourself for Democrats to play with the rules in the Senate and Barack Obama to continue his Marxist ways and use executive orders and regulatory Czars to get done what he can’t through the Constitutional legislative process.

Resuscitating “death panels” one Czar appointed through recess appointment, bypassing Senate scrutiny and confirmation, is Dr. Donald Berwick who is quoted as saying this about Britain’s health care system:

“Cynics beware, I am romantic about the National Health Service; I love it.”

It’s a well known fact that British health care is a rationing system and complete failure. Not to worry, Dr. Berwick is administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS is the agency that runs the Medicare and Medicaid programs).

Over the holiday’s Dr. Berwick has demonstrated Obama “Czar Power” and given us an example how Mr. Obama intends to promote his government takeover by thumbing his turned up nose at the electoral process and the American people.

A “little” development occurred recently that was only reported in the New York Times and is buried in thousands of pages of the Federal Registry that Medicare will now pay for voluntary end-of-life counseling as part of seniors’ annual physicals. A similar provision was originally included in ObamaCare, but Democrats stripped it out amid the death panel furor but now Medicare will enact the same policy through regulation. Medicare’s hospital and physician price controls for 2011 concludes that such consultations count as a form of preventative care.

Authoring the original rider concerning end of life counseling was Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and then proceeded to lobby Medicare to cover the service. Mr. Blumenauer wasn’t on the Sunday talking head circus announcing his lobbying efforts but acting more like a Special-Ops soldier working undercover in the dark of night to do what Congress did not.

When Medicare, via Dr. Berwick, added the death counseling provision Rep. Blumenauer sent an email to supporters cheering this “victory” but asked that they not tell anyone for fear of perpetuating “the ‘death panel’ myth.” The email added that “Thus far, it seems that no press or blogs have discovered it, but we will be keeping a close watch.”

Hey Rep. Blumenauer, consider yourself discovered!

Doctor’s already provide end of life counseling to patients and that is fine. This should be a patient, doctor, family decision making process without government bureaucrats involved. The problem is having Medicare sneak around in order to offer a type of care that is routine in private insurance. If the so-called medical experts in Congress haven’t decided that some treatment or service is worthy of the fee schedule, then the program won’t pay for it even if it is in the best interests of patients.

Advance care planning lays out the options and allows patients, in consultation with their providers and family members; to ensure that their future treatment is consistent with their wishes and moral values should they become too sick to decide for themselves.

The self-proclaimed guru’s in medicine, economics or simply people who happened to get elected want to decide for you, based on cost, what is good, what isn’t good, what is needed and what is not needed based on their budget estimates not on what the patient or the patients family wants. Technocrats in government can then decide who gets Avastin for cancer and who doesn’t.

Remember when Barack Obama “joked” about his grandmother’s hip replacement following a terminal cancer diagnosis? Obama represented this as “a sustainable model.” Who in hell proclaimed Obama as GOD other than himself and his incompetent followers?

The American people must get further engaged and tell their representatives to stay out of private medical matters and to not use health care as a political football.  November 2010 was only the beginning and if you wish to end government by Czar then you must continue to make the calls, write the letters, sign the petitions, join a Tea Party and become or stay politically active.

If you don’t stand up for the US Constitution and your right to medical privacy than maybe you deserve death by Czar.  Happy New Year, Indeed!

PolitiFact Equals Big Lie – Obama Propaganda Machine

by @ 12:39 pm. Filed under Health Care, Media, Politics

PolitiFact Liars

We have many forms of Pravda – State “owned” media in the US for one, but now we have PolitiFact and their “Lie of the Year” fresh off their “Truth-O-Meter.” In fact, Politifact claimed a Pulitzer Prize in 2009 so that award has sunk as deep as Nobel.

The 2010 “Lie of the Year” goes to the phrase “a government takeover of health care.” We call it Obamacare but officially it’s called “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act”. Protection and affordable are two word that couldn’t be further from the facts.

PolitiFact is run by the St. Petersburg Times. For clarification that’s St. Petersburg, Florida not St. Petersburg, Russia. PolitiFact claims they are a project of the St. Petersburg Times to help you find the truth in politics,” in their “About” page. They even have and ObamMeter with a picture of “The One” and his famous quote,

“I want to hold our government accountable. I want you to hold me accountable.”

Barack Obama accountability began November 2, 2010 but PolitiFact believes their “superior” fact checking is the final word. In fact, “We the People” are the final word and we’re not having anything PolitiFact has to offer.

PolitiFact takes issue with the wording “government takeover” when referring to Obamacare.

“We have concluded it is inaccurate to call the plan a government takeover.”

“‘Government takeover’ conjures a European approach where the government owns the hospitals and the doctors are public employees,” whereas ObamaCare “is, at its heart, a system that relies on private companies and the free market.”

I suppose instead of a break room for employees they have a crack room set up for free basing, use of company paid for water pipes and all the drugs you can smoke. It appears the editors of PolitiFact are on some type of addiction, most likely one that involves praying five times daily to the high priest, Barack Hussein Obama.

Stephanie Cutter, a special assistant to Mr. Obama chimed in also:

If “opponents of reform haven’t been shy about making claims that are at odds with the facts,” she wrote on the White House blog, “one piece of misinformation always stood out: the bogus claim . . .”

Forget the rest, it’s all propaganda from one member of the Obama Politburo.

The ongoing trend in the media and George Soros surrogates of the media is to recast political debate as lies and misinformation while covering up the facts. What we have with PolitiFact is they wish to define, or redefine, facts into fiction and convince the reader what they want understood as “facts” even though the truth has been substantially altered.

PolitiFact continues to define a “government takeover.”

“The government will not seize control of hospitals or nationalize doctors,” and while “it’s true that the law does significantly increase government regulation of health insurers,” they’ll still be nominally private too.

Tsk, tsk, tsk – the facts lie elsewhere and the Wall Street Journal agrees:

At the heart of ObamaCare is a vast expansion of federal control over how U.S. health care is financed, and thus delivered. The regulations that PolitiFact waves off are designed to convert insurers into government contractors in the business of fulfilling political demands, with enormous implications for the future of U.S. medicine. All citizens will be required to pay into this system, regardless of their individual needs or preferences. Sounds like a government takeover to us.

PolitiFact also has a different view on how public opinion of Obamacare was established. They claim that the government takeover slogan,

“…played an important role in shaping public opinion about the health-care plan and was a significant factor in the Democrats’ shellacking in the November elections.”

Tea Partiers, Republicans, Conservatives, Independents all lied and Democrats got “shellacked.” Where is the “fact” in that opinion? How does PolitiFact “fact check” their own lie?

The real Lie of the Year is, in fact, Obamacare aka Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The facts are this:

  1. Obamacare will raise health costs;
  2. Obamacare will  reduce patient choice.

Fact check that or put it in your crack pipe and smoke it, indeed!

A nice breakdown and analysis of PolitiFacts “Big Lie” is here.

Feeling Secure? Top Intelligent Official Asleep At the Switch

James Clapper Intelligence Oaf

James Clapper - Intelligence Oaf

Well now, Democrats are giddy on passing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” and now gays can march around their military base holding hands or in a fox hole if time permits. Getting out of that sexual closet was so important to serving it’s time to finally feel whole and less insecure. Life is good now.

EXCEPT, the top spy chief in the White House is not paying attention.

US Director of National Intelligence James Clapper was asked about arrests this week of 12 men accused of plotting an Al-Qaeda-inspired attack in London by ABC News interviewer Diane Sawyer who posed the questions:

“First of all, London. How serious is it? Any implication that it was coming here?”

After a long pause, Clapper replied,

“London?”

Yes, you know London – England, Great Britain, the UK, across the pond – that London.

A confused Sawyer proceeded to ask:

“I was a little surprised you didn’t know about London,” she said.

“Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t,” Clapper replied.

Maybe Mr. Clapper was preoccupied with “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” but in this “Show and Tell” session he pleads ignorant.

Not to worry DNI is on the job. Director of National Intelligence issued a statement, insisting the “question about this specific news development was ambiguous.”

“The DNI’s knowledge of the threat streams in Europe is profound and multi-dimensional, and any suggestion otherwise is inaccurate,” said the department.

Ambiguous? What did Clapper think Sawyer was discussing? Christmas, excuse me, Holiday shopping in the UK? Here’s the real kicker:

Clappers job is to brief Barack Obama daily with timely intelligence assessments. No problem, UK Prime Minister David Cameron filled Obama in by telephone on Tuesday.

Intelligence may not be Mr. Clapper’s strong suit – between the ears or otherwise. Indeed!
