Obama’s Disrepect for Military Dead

by @ 12:52 pm. Filed under Military, Politics, War on Terror

Obama Disrespects Military

Memorial Day 2011 has passed, wars still rage with American military involvement. Yesterday’s national holiday was greeted by many with “Happy Memorial Day.” What does that mean? “Happy” and “Memorial” in one greeting?

Not to worry, if that greeting sounds a little off let’s examine where the United States “Commander-in-Chief” was on this Memorial Day after days in Europe after “killing” Osama bin Laden and spending a few hours in Joplin, Missouri days after their tornado disaster.

To find out exactly where Obama was on Memorial Day you wouldn’t go to the US main stream press unless you located a blog by White House correspondent Keith Koffler:

The business of memorializing our war dead done, President Obama headed out to the Fort Belvoir golf course today, finding his way onto the links for the ninth weekend in a row.

Obama earlier today laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and met with families of those killed in battle. But he emerged from the day’s solemnity to go golfing for the 12th time this year and the 70th time of his presidency.

The decision to golf on Memorial Day invites comparison with President George W. Bush, who gave up the game early in his presidency and said he did it out of respect for the families of those killed in Iraq.

Obama’s decision to play golf yesterday, Memorial Day, for the 70th time during his 28-month long presidency took place while tens of millions of Americans used the holiday as a time for remembrance of the huge sacrifices made by servicemen and women on the battlefield. Obama did make a cursory stop in the morning, laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery, but later in the day traveled to Fort Belvoir to play golf.

The United States is currently engaged in a major war in Afghanistan with over 100,000 troops on the ground, and more than 1,500 have already laid down their lives for their country. We are still in Iraq and participating in the war in Libya.

George W. Bush gave up golf out of respect to the military and families of Iraq War dead. This demonstrated not only good judgment by President Bush but humility and respect for the men and women who keep America safe.

Nile Gardener reflects in the UK Telegraph about their Prime Minister, golf and Remembrance Day:

Can you imagine David Cameron enjoying a round of golf on Remembrance Sunday?

It would be inconceivable for the British Prime Minister to do so, and not just because of the usually dire weather at that time of the year. Above all, it would be viewed as an act of extremely bad taste on a day when the nation remembers and mourns her war dead. I can’t imagine the PM even considering it, and I’m sure his advisers would be horrified at the idea.

And if the prime minister ever did play golf on such a sacrosanct day he would be given a massive drubbing by the British press, and it would never be repeated.

At the very least the US “Commander-in-Chief” could visit with Veterans, especially those at Walter Reed Army Medical Center who are terribly wounded and recovering as well as servicemen’s families while acknowledging their sacrifice.

A recent Gallup poll notes that US military veterans and those currently on active military duty are less likely to approve of Obama’s job performance than are Americans of comparable ages who are not in the military. Thirty-seven percent of all active-duty military personnel and veterans surveyed approved of the job Obama is doing during the January 2010 to April 2011 time frame. That compares with 48% of non-veterans interviewed during the same period.

It’s obvious non-veterans are clueless about Obama and what it means to serve and sacrifice for their country while they enjoy the freedom and liberty our country provides.

Obama’s actions smack of poor taste, as well a lack of empathy and support for the US military, hardly the kind of leadership the White House should be projecting at a time of war and especially on a day that is reserved for remembrance of our fallen military heroes, not golf. Indeed!

American Economy Feeling Unstimulated

by @ 11:24 am. Filed under Business, Economics, Politics, Taxes

Obama's Economic Plan

Billions and billions of dollars dumped into and around the US economy by the Obama administration with bailouts and what does the economy have to show for it?

Well the New York Times has noticed but they feel the government hasn’t done enough to reinvigorate the economy although we have national debt into the trillions and politicians crying to raise the debt ceiling so America doesn’t default on its loans. Do elected officials manage their money the way they manage taxpayer money?

New data is out and the United States economy is sputtering at 1.8-percent in the growth column, consumer spending is idle, wages our stagnant if your still receiving one, goods like food and gas are costing more, the housing market is poor (no pun intended), and consumer confidence is very low. Imagine that!

The “Gray Lady” believe government is the solution but anyone paying attention knows that government has done too much in the way of “stimulating” the economy and despite their claims, the government does not create jobs. They do, however, bring about circumstances that cause the economy to head in a downward spiral through mismanagement.

Liberals are in denial and doing damage control without facts but plenty of excuse. Donna Edwards (D-MD) is a member of the House Progressive Caucus disagreed with Fox News’ Chris Wallace when he pointed out the dismal economic numbers and the trillions in debt that has grown in the last two years.

Rep. Edwards demonstrates how clueless she is:

Well, I mean – I don’t know that I agree with that, because, you know, first of all – let me finish here. I mean, first of all, the trillion dollars for stimulus package – actually $786 billion – was absolutely necessary to make sure that this economy didn’t go into a free fall. We also know that we had to make sure that we began to stimulate the kind of growth that we need in this country to invest in the future.

At lease she didn’t tell us we were in or near an economic depression.

Attempting some damage control from the Obama policies the GOP House led by Paul Ryan (R-WI) are making an attempt to reverse course, reverse liberal policies and hit the reset button by reducing the size of the federal government, reducing regulation, reducing taxes, and promoting free markets through free trade. Mr. Ryan understands that government is the problem and they need to size down and allow private business to take the lead at stimulating the economy and job growth.

Response from the left was predictable as they claim the Republican ideas are the same old “fixes” while people like Rep. Edwards and the NY Times keep calling for more of their bad medicine. In fact, the left wants to raise taxes in an effort to grow government and finance to programs that don’t work.

The government needs to stay home. Brian Riedl of Heritage explains why government intervention to boost the economy doesn’t work:

Removing water from one end of a swimming pool and pouring it in the other end will not raise the overall water level. Similarly, taking dollars from one part of the economy and distributing it to another part of the economy will not expand the economy.

There are many ways in which government can really change through non-monetary reform:

  1. Reduce regulations;
  2. Reduce unnecessary business costs;
  3. Reforming the tort system;
  4. Remove barriers to energy production;
  5. Reduce taxes on companies’ foreign earnings if they bring their earnings home;
  6. Passing pending free trade agreements.

If government wishes to help solve the economic recovery they can start by cleaning up their own economic house. Businesses that are overburdened with taxes and regulations with more on the way will not begin investment in the private sector where job growth and real economic stimulus reside.

Indeed, if the government want’s to stimulate the economy they need to take Paul Ryan’s advice the clean their fiscal house and get out of the way.

They Gave So We Could Live Free

by @ 12:05 am. Filed under Elections, Historical, Politics, U.S. Constitution

Our brave military, over the course of our country’s history, served, fought and made the ultimate sacrifice as we honor them this Memorial Day. Below this post is my personnel tribute to a family member, my uncle, who died in combat and is buried on foreign soil fighting in World War II.

Please watch the 5-minute video and pay attention this upcoming election season because the United States of America is at a crossroads whether you think so or not. It’s a fact that our way of life is being threatened from years of government mismanagement and now because at the very top of our federal system we have an ideological occupant in the White House who would destroy the Constitution and the American system as founded forever.

Wake up America, perform your due diligence, sacrifice some time and vote Barack Obama out of office in 2012. It’s time to take our country back, indeed!
