In fact, the folks writing the editorials at the WSJ enjoyed their visit to Middle Earth so much they went back. Maybe they’re looking to take up residence and based on their more recent views concerning the debt limit fiasco, government spending, taxes and the whole mess created by all the geniuses in DC I’m beginning to wonder if it’s worth continuing my very, very long subscription at what is becoming one more news and Internet rag.
First off, I don’t believe in increasing the debt, I believe in massive cuts into waste, freezing unneeded spending and total reform of entitlements and the IRS tax code. Immediate spending cuts would, in fact, provide more than enough money to pay the national debt on steroids and balance the budget without producing an amendment to the Constitution.
Second, if not for the “Tea Party”, the general grass root voters and average people concerned with the direction of the country who all changed to make up of Congress winning the majority of Republicans in the House then government would be growing further into unsustainable levels and ending America as we know it. If the ducks at the WSJ don’t believe that’s true then they have ultimately lost their way and have put away fiscal conservative principles in the storage rooms of their pristine New York offices.
Third, the WSJ editorial “elitists” went after the Heritage Foundation and Club for Growth. If not for those two organizations and others we as a people trying to stay informed and educated on reducing government size would have no place to go.
This past Wednesday the WSJ editors decided to get nasty and single out the aforementioned groups and citizens as “Hobbits” from Middle Earth as written in the JR Tolkien trilogy “Lord of the Rings.” How mature of them to make fun of the people who actually brought us the 111th Congress, replacing the Pelosi Marxists in the 110th Congress. They write: (Emphasis LCs)
Strangely, some Republicans and conservative activists are condemning this as a fiscal sellout. Senator Jim DeMint put out a statement raking the Speaker for seeking “a better political debt deal, instead of a debt solution” (emphasis, needless to say, his). The usually sensible Club for Growth and Heritage Action, the political arm of the Heritage Foundation, are scoring a vote for the Boehner plan as negative on similar grounds.
But what none of these critics have is an alternative strategy for achieving anything nearly as fiscally or politically beneficial as Mr. Boehner’s plan.
The Republican House that failed to raise the debt ceiling would somehow escape all blame. Then Democrats would have no choice but to pass a balanced-budget amendment and reform entitlements, and the tea-party Hobbits could return to Middle Earth having defeated Mordor.
This is the kind of crack political thinking that turned Sharron Angle and Christine O’Donnell into GOP Senate nominees. The reality is that the debt limit will be raised one way or another, and the only issue now is with how much fiscal reform and what political fallout.
This didn’t sit well with many paying customers as many of the comments reflected including mine. While being “cute” the WSJ decided to directly insult the people who are paying attention and voting to remove the ilk from DC one election at a time. Who in the hell do these so-called editorial writers think they are. If they wish to make opinion fine but they have no business calling people who read their rag for a price “Hobbits” from “Middle-Earth.
This didn’t go unnoticed on talk radio especially on Limbaugh, Hannity and Levin. Not only did the host discuss this distasteful editorial but callers were enraged by it. With millions of listeners this story gained plenty of traction so what did the folks at the WSJ do? They did a follow-up editorial entitled: “The Debt-Limit Hobbits – The GOP fantasy caucus is empowering Nancy Pelosi”.
So now WSJ raised the insults to headline status! The editorial mentions that the erstwhile Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), whose bogus run for the White House did much to give us the Marxist Barack Obama, actually read from the previous editorial taking shots at Angle, McDonell and the Tea Party: (Emphasis LCs)
These columns drew much notice after John McCain quoted our July 27 “tea party hobbits” line on the Senate floor. Senator (sic) Sharron Angle responded that “it is the hobbits who are the heroes and save the land.” Well, okay, but our point was that there’s no such thing as a hobbit. Passing a balanced budget amendment this year is a similar fantasy. Yet outfits like the Club for Growth used the amendment as an excuse to flip from opposing the Boehner plan to supporting it. Maybe it should be the Club for Futile Fiscal Gestures.
The debt-limit hobbits should also realize that at this point the Washington fracas they are prolonging isn’t helping their cause. Republicans are not looking like adults to whom voters can entrust the government.
So according to John McCain and the WSJ we should lay down and die. Forget a “futile” attempt to sanity. Forget the fact that before any bill proposed by the House even had a chance for a vote Sen. Harry Reid was telegraphing the world that the House proposals were “Dead on Arrival.” What difference does it make what a fiscal Conservative proposes or even demands in a bill?
Let’s give Obama and his ilk what they want – tax increase and trillion more to spend on pet projects further eroding our Constitutional Republic and turning America into a Communist State. Not European socialism, that’s only the beginning and we’re closing in on that fast. Many in the press including the WSJ like to say we’re going to be like Greece. In fact, Greece is heavily influenced by Communists and are officially a part of their parliament. At least they call themselves Communists and not Democrats like in the United States. Remember, Progressive equals Marxist equals Communist but I digress.
And the WSJ says the “Republicans are not looking like adults to whom voters can entrust the government”? Voters are the ones who entrusted the Conservatives in the House and Senate to be bold, to stand by Conservative principles and not cave in to the socialist and Marxists who are tearing down this nation.
If you’re looking for Conservative leadership in the House or Senate you don’t have to look any further than Marco Rubio. Spend 14-minutes watching the video below this post where Mr. Rubio discusses the debt limit and Washington spending without reading notes, without a teleprompter and taking on two challenges from Sen. John Kerry who picked a fight with the wrong person.
When you’re looking for leadership and people who want real, positive, Conservative change it’s the Conservative forces elected to office by the Tea Party, by the grass roots voters across America who have said enough is enough. These people are the ones who phoned in, who sign the petitions, who write the letters who have reminded the freshman in Congress why they were sent to Washington.
If it were up to the genius at the Wall Street Journal we might turn into Greece. Maybe they could change the “Opinion” tab to “Middle Earth” so we can locate them easier.
Maybe Sauron is now head of the WSJ editorial board and they only put on the appearance of beauty but in reality we know how that worked out so we’ll stick with Hobbits. You see, if Middle Earth is the United States of America, then we’ll fashion our agenda according to the US Constitution, we’ll ask that the hard choices be made and that the ship of American Exceptionism right its course so we can return to being that “Shining City on a Hill.”
We’ll take Conservative principles over WSJ Orcs anytime. Indeed!

I would suggest that newly minted Senator Marco Rubio of Florida will someday become President of the United States.
Please, spend 14-minutes of your time watching and listening to Mr. Rubio on the floor of the United States Senate without reading notes, without using a teleprompter delivering a potent speech concerning out of control spending and the debt limit debate. This is as good as it gets.
Between 9-10 minutes Sen. John Kerry asks and receives permission to question Mr. Rubio and Kerry should have walked away wishing he had kept his mouth shut.

Speaker John Boehner was ready to compromise with the Leftists and freshman Conservatives, sent to Washington to fight for the Republic and the Constitution stood their ground. At least 25 holdout stuck it out until Mr. Boehner came to his senses and came up with one more bill to hold Obama and his minions feet to the fire.
If Reid wants to announce he will kill the newest Boehner bill and Obama announces he would veto it than too bad. Let’s default, as if that would really happen because it won’t unless Treasury Secretary Geithner and Obama wish that to happen, then it’s on them not Republicans.
House Republicans will link passage of a balanced-budget amendment to Speaker John Boehner’s latest debt-ceiling plan, which GOP lawmakers said would move the measure to passage in a high-stakes vote later on Friday.
Republican lawmakers voiced confidence the enhanced bill would pass muster with conservatives, as Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) predicted the balanced-budget amendment change would bring 10 to 20 more GOP members on board.
Rep. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), a key holdout, and a Senate candidate, quickly took to Twitter after the meeting to say that he was a yes vote. The conservative Club for Growth also offered a tentative endorsement. These positions are big.
Republican lawmakers say the Boehner framework would still pave the way for the debt limit to be raised through the 2012 election in two chunks. But it would also mandate that the second hike of the ceiling could only occur after a balanced-budget amendment passed both chambers of Congress and went to the states for ratification.
Here is the latest version of the Boehner bill and reflects changes made after GOP leaders failed to assemble the necessary votes to pass it Thursday. This bill is the current legislative vehicle and may come to the House floor later Friday. To see how the House members stand here is the current WHIP list.
Barack Obama, who has offered no plan has admitted Communist and confidant Valerie Jarrett whining for “The One.”
“He’s getting absolutely no sleep. He’s working tirelessly, meeting with his economic team, doing a lot of outreach, exploring all kinds of possibilities for compromise,” Jarrett said.
The problem is John Boehner and Republicans in the House are the one’s not getting any sleep spending the night working on one more bill that Reid and Obama say will not get any consideration.
While Republicans come out with plan after plan Democrats continue to whine, continue to complain about those “extremists” on the Right in the House and beg for compromise as long as it fits the Marxist manifesto of Obama and Reid. That’s “compromise” you can’t believe in.
For the House freshman that didn’t hold out to the end we really have little use for you because after campaigning against the status quo in DC you got on board the wrong train which left the station without Conservative principles intact.
