This morning one of the first headlines I saw was, “Big First Year Leaves Obama Exhausted.” So quit and do the world a big favor. Fear not, Mr. Obama is relaxing in Hawaii, playing golf, tennis, working out at the gym, playing basketball and enjoying the ocean and tropical breezes.

The office Barack Hussein Obama holds is not for the weak, the whiners or someone without an established executive work ethic. Community organizers are seldom woken in the middle of the night concerning domestic or world events.

Obama was woken from sleep at 6:00 am to learn he had won the Nobel Peace Prize but wasn’t even informed of the recent terrorist attack aboard Flight 253 for over two hours.

The attempted attack on Flight 253 occurred just before noon ET, or 7 a.m. Hawaii-Aleutian Time.

Obama and his family left for the gym on Christmas at 6:40 am according to Peter Baker of the New York Times, Obama’s “only known work interruption came after 9 am when a military aid notified him” about the attempted terrorist attack.

“Obama’s staff felt it was urgent for the President to know he had been selected for an award, but it was less important for him to be notified of attack on American citizens. That’s either bad staff work or a reflection of President Obama’s priorities. Either one is deeply troubling,” writes Scott Stanzel.

Obama delayed his departure to Hawaii so he could be in Washington for a Christmas Eve vote on health care reform. This vote did not make reform law, it merely passed one bill into a conference with another. So what was the urgency?

In the grand scheme of this legislation, it was an event he could’ve watched on television, but he knew his presence in DC, and the temporary delay of his vacation plans, would add that emotional support his caucus needed. So where was the emotional support our nation needed, and Iranian citizens needed, this weekend?

Thousands of Iranians took to the streets demanding a regime-change in their country. The current Iranian regime is not only quickly moving its way towards a nuclear weapon, it is the major benefactor of the attacks our US troops face in neighboring Iraq and Afghanistan. Freedom fighters are dying in the streets of Iran hearing the sounds of gunfire, tear gas and chaos. What they have not heard is the sound of Mr. Obama’s voice. Not until 3:00 pm yesterday did Obama speak out with tepid response and whisper.

Here’s a timely New Year’s resolution the president might do well to deliver to his National Security Council:

“When it comes to nasty regimes that brutalize their people, we will never again forget that the most powerful weapon in a president’s arsenal is a White House photo-op.”

For a man whose whole appeal has been wrapped in powerful imagery, President Obama appears strikingly obtuse about the symbolism of his own actions: e.g., squeezing in a condemnation of Iran before a round of golf.

By the time Obama about spoke about Flight 253, the nation knew the terrorist’s name, his background, his father’s background, a sect of Al Qaeda had already claimed responsibility, and every detail of what physically occurred aboard the flight.

Al-Qaeda put out a pointed statement not only claiming responsibility but also mocking the U.S.’s ability to stop them. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, they said:

“…dealt a huge blow to the myth of American and global intelligence services and showed how fragile its structure is.”

We’ve always said the military is an after thought to Obama and his Leftist ilk so the Hawaiian beaches were closed to military personnel so “The One” could enjoy sun, sand and surf privately. Despite having his own secured stretch of sand outside of his Kailua beach vacation rental, Obama and hia family chose instead to spend the afternoon at a more private beach on Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

America has always been a beacon of hope for oppressed people, and citizens begging to break the bonds of authoritarian rule. But not this weekend, and not this summer. While President Obama has “engaged” Iran this year, the people’s fight has been bloodied and the race towards nuclear arms has quickened. And today he repeated the refrain that we “bear witness” to their struggle. The Iranian people are surely looking for more encouraging words than that, especially since this is practically the same statement he gave on June 20.

If you haven’t noticed it’s all about Obama. His speeches contain volumes of “I” and “My” instead of “We” and “American’s”. It’s all about Obama on vacation, relaxing while his Homeland Security head Janet Napolitano changes stories and looks confused. Pressed by NBC News to justify her statement that “the system worked,” Ms. Napolitano backtracked and admitted yesterday: “Our system did not work in this instance. No one is happy or satisfied with that.”

We have total incompetence at Homeland Security and the “leader” of the free world relaxing so much that he can’t address important and vital issues because he is vacationing. Time for a change, indeed!
