Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, whose county lies at the center of major drug and alien smuggling routes to Phoenix and cities east and west has said his deputies are outmanned and outgunned by drug traffickers in the rough-hewn desert stretches of his own county.
“Mexican drug cartels literally do control parts of Arizona,” he said. “They literally have scouts on the high points in the mountains and in the hills and they literally control movement. They have radios, they have optics, they have night-vision goggles as good as anything law enforcement has.
“This is going on here in Arizona,” he said. “This is 70 to 80 miles from the border – 30 miles from the fifth-largest city in the United States.”
Sheriff Babeu has asked the Obama administration for 3,000 National Guard soldiers to patrol the border, but what he got were 15 signs. They also received 30 national guard troops.
The Pinal Country Sheriff is lucky, he’s not being sued like his colleague Maricopa Country Sheriff Joe Arpaio by the Obama Justice Department which is saying the Arizona lawman refused for more than a year to turn over records in an investigation into allegations his department discriminates against Hispanics.
At a news conference Thursday morning in downtown Phoenix, Sheriff Arpaio called the Justice Department’s actions harassment. His office has said it won’t hand over additional documents because federal authorities haven’t said exactly what they were investigating.
“They have hundreds of thousands of reports, hundreds of thousands,” Sheriff Arpaio said. “They’re so broad, we’re trying to narrow it down. We’re trying to work with them.”
I believe this is harassment while parts of the state is overrun by criminals because of the failure of the Federal government to do its job and secure the borders.
What do the signs say along Arizona Interstate 8?

Federal Border Security
In addition to suing an Arizona Sheriff the state is being sued for its passage of an immigration law that mirrors the Federal law. Another border state is having its problems with the Obama administration. Texas Gov. Perry was denied a meeting with Obama at Fort Bliss in El Paso.
Perry spokeswoman Katherine Cesinger said the Republican governor had asked to meet with the president on Tuesday to discuss border security. Cesinger said Monday that White House aides said Obama would not be available for such a meeting.
Because of the snub Gov. Perry declined a meeting with Napolitano and John Brennan, Obama’s top homeland security aide in the White House. Gov. Perry was one of the first people Obama saw when he stepped from Air Force One during an Austin visit on Aug. 9. On that occasion, Perry hand-delivered a letter to Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett, warning about the “dire threat” from drug violence along the U.S.-Mexico border.
So much for all those promised resources when Obama refuses to meet face to face with border state Governor’s, has his Justice Department sue Arizona and law enforcement officials forced to protect themselves.
Barack Hussein Obama – a disgrace, indeed!
