Fore – Obama Golfs While Troops Die

by @ 5:36 pm. Filed under Military, National Security, Politics, War on Terror

Politico reports:

Obama has only been in office for just over nine months, but he’s already hit the links as much as President Bush did in over two years.

CBS’ Mark Knoller–an unofficial documentarian and statistician of all things White House-related–wrote on his Twitter feed [Saturday] that, “Today – Obama ties Pres. Bush in the number of rounds of golf played in office: 24. Took Bush 2 yrs & 10 months.”

Meanwhile, the Associated Press reports from Kabul that “eight American troops were killed in two separate bomb attacks Tuesday in southern Afghanistan, making October the deadliest month of the war for U.S. forces since the 2001 invasion to oust the Taliban.”

However, the Blame George W. Bush mantra is still in vogue where White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel told CNN last week:

It’s clear that basically we had a war for eight years that was going on, that’s adrift. That we’re beginning at scratch, and just from the starting point, after eight years. . . . Before you commit troops, which is–not irreversible, but puts you down a certain path–before you make that decision, there’s a set of questions that have to have answers that have never been asked. And it’s clear after eight years of war, that’s basically starting from the beginning, and those questions never got asked. And what I find interesting and just intriguing from this debate in Washington, is that a lot of people who all of a sudden say, this is now the epicenter of the war on terror, you must do this now, immediately approve what the general said–where, before, it never even got on the radar screen for them.

War on terror? Rahm, your boss said that term is verboten.

When Obama accepted the nomination for president back in August 2008, he told America exactly what needed to be done in Afghanistan:

When John McCain said we could just “muddle through” in Afghanistan, I argued for more resources and more troops to finish the fight against the terrorists who actually attacked us on 9/11, and made clear that we must take out Osama bin Laden and his lieutenants if we have them in our sights. John McCain likes to say that he’ll follow bin Laden to the Gates of Hell–but he won’t even go to the cave where he lives. . . .

I will . . . finish the fight against al-Qaida and the Taliban in Afghanistan.

FoxNews.com quotes Obama as telling servicemen:

“I will never rush the solemn decision of sending you into harm’s way.”

Golf, pitching the International Olympic Committee, date nights on the taxpayer’s dime, Democratic fund-raisers, health care, the U.N. Security Council, Sunday morning talk shows, saving the planet from global warming, celebrating the dog’s birthday and defending himself against Fox News and Rush Limbaugh.

It’s no wonder with a full schedule Barack Hussein Obama is too busy while troops he previously sent to Afghanistan lose morale and then their lives. Victory is not a term Obama likes to use when speaking about Afghanistan. Indeed!

And GWB golfed while 9/11 was forewarned and then happened. Your precious Heritage Foundation defends the economic interests of the elite, golf-playing plutonomy. Learn the ropes.

  2. Liberally Conservative Says:

    I Shawn, welcome back.

You see, like my responses to your other erstwhile comments, The Heritage Foundation has scholars who actually pride themselves on reading the legislation and then using facts and fact based analysis to tell the truth the Marxist/Fascist hybrids don’t want American’s to know about.

Stay tuned, we are the one’s you’ve been waiting for. We will straighten out this mess with the revolution that is brewing. Which side of history would you like to be on? BANG!

  3. liberally conservative jr. Says:

Please take note that while he’s playing golf, you don’t even want to know what I was doing.

  4. Liberally Conservative Says:

A word from LC jr., not a coward, not asking for a government handout, but volunteering to do the heavy lifting for his country.

  5. Ceaseless Uncensored Says:

You’re addicted to limbaugh, breitbart, and the spin of the corporate interest. I’ll bet you’re a big Glenn Beck fan. Your son is brave, but the war should have been won years ago, not abandoned for Saddam’s yellowcake. “Failure of intelligence” indeed. “War on terror” is a stupid way to describe the mission to get Osama. Your insistence in a “brewing revolution” is proof that you value your country less than your free-market ideology. You’re advocating overthrowing a democratic president with violence, in the name of what? What cause is greater than the Constitution that you apparently love so much? We voted, you lost, stop foaming at the mouth while your national party is destroyed by its whack-a-loons. Bush started a war he couldn’t finish, then another, then left office. That’s cowardice.

  6. Liberally Conservative Says:

Do you always twist my words or do you only see what you believe and not the absolute facts and opinion based on those facts that I comment on Shawn?

Overthrow the government? We have free elections as an incumbent removal device. You won? So we who believe in the US Constitution should sit idly by and watch the Leftists burn it.

I think not. BTW, the Taliban and al-Qaeda were defeated in Afghanistan and democratic elections were held. Bush left honorably but NATO blew it and so did the Karzai goverment. Once again it’s blame Bush and make excuses but ignore the facts.

George W. Bush freed 50-70 muslims from tyranny. Quite and accomplishment while Obama has a scorecard with more US deaths in Afghanistan in 9 months than George W. Bush in 8 years in Afghanistan. But who’s keeping score?

Obama is now claiming he is saving lives in Afghanistan while he has a horrid photo-op session viewing falling soldiers caskets and saluting like a community organizer picking his nose.

  7. Ceaseless Uncensored Says:

“The revolution that is brewing” – “BANG.” – You right wing nut jobs like to use intimidation tactics like bringing guns to town halls. Americans are smarter than to fall for your dog-and-pony show. You should make some attempts to moderate or you’ll soon be seeing your precious GOP left in a ditch. The civil war isn’t American, it’s Republican. The GOP need to fix the problems it made for itself by marching in lockstep behind GWB. If you can’t admit that Karzai was installed by Bush, you don’t know jack about former oil executive Karzai. If you can’t admit the election was obviously corrupt, then you clearly don’t care and reflexively support the escalation. And if you like having a son so far away, please support an escalation, prolong the second Vietnam. Rewriting history doesn’t help. What the heck does “freed 50-70 Muslims” mean? That’s the dumbest thing I ever saw on this site, and I’ve seen a lot. Bush failed, and the GOP is next.

  8. Liberally Conservative Says:

Don’t be an ass, you’re not allowed to discuss my son, a volunteer, not a coward.

Freeing Muslims living under tyranny is dumb to you but a free handout from working people is smart.

NY-23 is a start. If New Jersey goes GOP then Hussein Obama and his ilk are in big trouble. They’re handing Virgina over tommorrow. Fasten your seatbelt the ride is going to get rough.

  9. Ceaseless Uncensored Says:

How can you describe your commander-in-chief as a Marxist Fascist? You ignore the definitions of both terms for some kind of buzzword-fueled insanity. There’s no claim to Marxism in a Corporatist like Obama, making backroom deals with Capitalists on Health Care and Energy. Fascist? He was elected. Bush is responsible for fomenting Afghani rage and now quelling the civil war in Afghanistan has become the focus of our troops there, rather than finding Bin Laden. It’s hilarious when American Conservatives attack their Commander-In-Chief with a straight face, after spending 8 years insisting that GWB was infallible and his questioners were unpatriotic. How did that unflagging support of the foaming-at-the-mouth GOP work out for you in the 08 election, LC? Today’s elections are only on the map because they’re all supposed to be republican districts, yet the Dems are making gains in those bastions of redness. The regional-rump of conservatism loses ground every day to the forces of social justice and equality.

  10. Liberally Conservative Says:

OH yes, New Jersey is a Republican district.

Commander in Chief? Not mine, I would resign my commission.

Corporatist?…are you kidding me? Government takeover of private business, firing CEOs and dictating pay. I would say that falls in the parameters of Marxist/Fascist.

Hugo Chavez was elected too and he tore up the Constitution in his country. Honduras is fighting that mentality but Obama supported the Leftists.

And Conservatism is alive and well and kicking ass. Stay tuned.

  11. Ceaseless Uncensored Says:

So should you son resign his commission too? Which one is it mister patriot? The sword or the shield? How’d that unflagging support for a foam-at-the-mouth NY-23 candidate work out? Social conservatives are a joke. Social meaning society, conservative meaning “traditional” social conservatives are thus hoping for a return to the olden days. You know: women in the kitchen and slaves in the field. What a failed party.

  12. Liberally Conservative Says:

If you believe any of the nonsense you wrote I pity you. OOPS! OK, I pity this country because we have uneducated people like you running around spewing your hate based on no facts whatsoever.

I’ve asked you to read Classical Liberalism offered in my left sidebar but apparently it’s too literal for you to comprehend and lacks the Marxist, poor me ideology crave.

NY-23 was successful since Mr. Hoffman had no money and a 30-day campaign. Watch for my Moonbat on Saturday, it should interest you in my objectivity, something you think I lack.

BTW, you don’t mention New Jersey or Virginia. Don’t they report the news in Oregon?

Do you appreciate Rev. Wright, Mr. Kalidi, Wm. Ayres, Bernadine Dohrn, Karl Marx, et al as your Messiah Hussein Obama aka Barry Soetero does? Your mind is absolutely warped and curiously empty. Indeed!

  13. Ceaseless Uncensored Says:

Your ad hominem is showing, again. VA and NJ switch every off year. Every. Even to Reagan. The 23rd in NY is proof that you wingnuts attacking each other will allow the Democratic Party to seize unheard-of majorities, until you get all that pesky social consrvatism out of your ranks. That’s right, Don: gays are okays, and abortion is fine!

  14. Liberally Conservative Says:

New Jersey switches every cycle? Virginia went Obama by a big margin then woke up.

You math is so far off it might pay to go back to the 3rd grade for a refresher course.

And now for your use of “ad hominen” as an agrument:

One of the most widely misused terms on the Net is “ad hominem”. It is most often introduced into a discussion by certain delicate types, delicate of personality and mind, whenever their opponents resort to a bit of sarcasm. As soon as the suspicion of an insult appears, they summon the angels of ad hominem to smite down their foes, before ascending to argument heaven in a blaze of sanctimonious glory. They may not have much up top, but by God, they don’t need it when they’ve got ad hominem on their side. It’s the secret weapon that delivers them from any argument unscathed.

In reality, ad hominem is unrelated to sarcasm or personal abuse. Argumentum ad hominem is the logical fallacy of attempting to undermine a speaker’s argument by attacking the speaker instead of addressing the argument. The mere presence of a personal attack does not indicate ad hominem: the attack must be used for the purpose of undermining the argument, or otherwise the logical fallacy isn’t there. It is not a logical fallacy to attack someone; the fallacy comes from assuming that a personal attack is also necessarily an attack on that person’s arguments.

Therefore, if you can’t demonstrate that your opponent is trying to counter your argument by attacking you, you can’t demonstrate that he is resorting to ad hominem. If your opponent’s sarcasm is not an attempt to counter your argument, but merely an attempt to insult you (or amuse the bystanders), then it is not part of an ad hominem argument.

Actual instances of argumentum ad hominem are relatively rare. Ironically, the fallacy is most often committed by those who accuse their opponents of ad hominem, since they try to dismiss the opposition not by engaging with their arguments, but by claiming that they resort to personal attacks. Those who are quick to squeal “ad hominem” are often guilty of several other logical fallacies, including one of the worst of all: the fallacious belief that introducing an impressive-sounding Latin term somehow gives one the decisive edge in an argument.

Mr. Shawn has no argument because he has no facts only spin and his vague and incorrect use of “ad hominen.” Indeed!

  15. Ceaseless Uncensored Says:

This is how conservatism work snowadays: you state a blatant lie, then repeat it until it becomes true. It’s just like belief in God. You sicko. Here’s your lie: “If your opponent’s sarcasm is not an attempt to counter your argument, but merely an attempt to insult you (or amuse the bystanders), then it is not part of an ad hominem argument.” Actually Don, that’s precisely what an ad hominem is – a deflection from logic (a fallacy) interjected not to counter the argument but to insult the speaker. That doesn’t change just becaues you’re wrong about Hoffman. Here’s another lie: “NY-23 was successful since Mr. Hoffman had no money and a 30-day campaign.” HE LOST DON! Just like Sarah Palin would lose if she ran Nationally, I promise you. The hard-right, anti-gay, anti-privacy, religious fundamentalist wing of the Conservative Movement HAS TO GO. People who want the government interfering in civil contracts (marriage) and abortion (legal medical procedures) are NOT “small-government” conservatives. You act like you can justify being so obtuse. You know the GOP has problems. I came to this site like a Good Christian to try and save you from the ignorance that business federations and conservative think-tanks are holding over your eyes. Your Take Back the GOP logo looks like it was made by 1995. The year itself produced your clip art. I don’t offer those up as insults: you need help. Here’s your ad hominem: I ask How’d that unflagging support for a foam at the mouth conservative? You Reply: “I pity you for being uneducated and spewing hate.” There was no reply to the questions I asked you. Which is why you come across as an ideologue without sense. And by the way: The DNC put out a litany of quotes from 2001, when the same election results happened to Bush (NJ and VA both switched to the out-of-office party), people in the Bush administration saying that those races were unimportant. Dems picked up five seats on congress last tuesday. Get your head straight. Diving off the right wing will not save your electoral hopes – it will ruin the GOP.

  16. Liberally Conservative Says:

We rested our case earlier but poor Shawn just awoke from his Leftist stupor. Take the pain pill Shawn and save the world.
