I wrote about Kent State professor Julio Pino in the post directly below (scroll down) with 2 updates from the Akron-Beacon Journal.
The story first came to me from Townhall and Professor Mark Adams at UNC-Wilmington. Professor Adams provides some more input from an April 2006 article written by Kathy Lynn Gray in the Columbus Dispatch.
Kent State University has been dealing for several years with the case of a Muslim professor, Julio Pino, who calls himself “the most dangerous Muslim in America.”
Pino, a tenured associate history professor, angered some faculty members in 2002 when he wrote a column in the school newspaper that was an ode to a Palestinian suicide bomber. Pino called the bomber a martyr.
English professor Lewis Fried called on the university to fire Pino, but Kent State President Carol Cartwright said at the time that the school supports the free exchange of ideas.
Pino now has a blog on the Internet where he writes that U.S. servicemen are butchers who massacre Iraqis and urges readers to “join the Islamic resistance.”
Pino said yesterday he had no comment.
Kent State University provided a watered down statement that Mr. Pino does not own the site Global War but has contributed to it. In addition, the site now redirects to Defend America, how convenient now that Pino is being fully outed as a full-fledged Jihadist.
I have not been able to reach Pino at his Kent State office (not far from my residence) and Professor Adams has been relegated to Pino’s voice mail. FoxNews invited Pino to debate Adams but the Jihadist declined the invitation.
Apparently Brit Hume of FoxNews Special Report got through to Pino and the professor refused to deny his association with the “Global War” blog. Professor Adams received a profanity laced email from address jpino@kent.edu.
Local news in Ohio is not providing much news on the subject, the NBC affiliate had a very short summary with other “quick” news highlights. This author will be following up with Department of Homeland Security and the local FBI for comments.
As Lt. Col. Oliver North (Ret) states:
Thanks to the masters of the media, Americans know more about how Anna Nicole Smith died than they do about terrorists dying to kill the rest of us.
It takes bloggers to take the high road and dig deep to get information on a Jihadist in my back yard. The press and Kent State wish to protect a potential enemy.
