It’s entitled the U.S. Troop Readiness, Veteran’s Health, and Iraq Accountability Act, but on further examination the House is offering a subsidy riddled, pork barrel, earmarked insult to the fighting men and women of the United States Armed Forces.

Speaker Pelosi and her Left-Wing ilk are an embarrassment to the United States Congress and the American public, not to mention, our military. This bill should stick to its title and not offer payment for votes.

• $50 million for “asbestos abatement and other improvements” in the U.S. Capitol
• $74 million for “storage, handling, and other associated costs for the 2007 crop of peanuts
• $284 million for payments to dairy farmers
• $4.3 billion in increased Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster relief for areas affected by hurricanes.
• $25 million for payments to spinach producers that was unable to market spinach crops as a result of FDA Public Health Advisory issued on September 14, 2006.
• $120 million to the shrimp industry for expenses related to the consequences of Hurricane Katrina.
• $5 million for payments to “aquaculture operations and other persons in the U.S. engaged in the business of breeding, rearing, or transporting live fish” to cover economic losses incurred as a result of an emergency order issued by the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service on October 24, 2006
• $35 million to NASA, under the “exploration capabilities” account, for “expenses related to the consequences of Hurricane Katrina.”
• $80 million HUD Indian Housing tenant-based rental assistance for public and Indian housing.

There is much more out there, undocumented so far, but Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA) correctly states,

“This bill is intended to meet the urgent needs of our troops serving in harm’s way. Instead, the Democrats are using it to pander to their left-wing base.”

“The money they want to spend on spinach subsidies and peanut storage would be better spent on body armor and Humvees. This bill fails both our troops serving overseas and the taxpayer here at home.”

In addition to irrelevant pork barrel earmarking the Liberals slipped in a withdrawal date for our troops to start withdrawing from Iraq with no war funding as of September 2008.

The House “Commanders in Chief” have announced they don’t support the troops; they have quietly decided to introduce “defunding” our soldiers. This is a disgrace and only exempliflies the truth about the Left-Wing Nut House, they don’t respect the U.S. Military and they don’t support them.

The Liberals can spin this anyway they wish, the fact is, they support their lobbies, they support their donors, they don’t support our troops. PERIOD!
