McCain’s “Obama Withdrawal Plan” – Bush’s “Obama Iran Plan”

by @ 6:33 pm. Filed under Elections, Politics, War on Terror

I have watched a video from July 25th with John McCain coming out of a German restaurant in Columbus OH and is asked a tongue and cheek question about eating in a German restaurant while Barack Obama is in Germany.

McCain proceeds to pull, presumably food, from his teeth with his left hand before attempting to answer the question, cameras rolling. Standing next to McCain is Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) sucking food from his teeth with his tongue, cameras rolling.

Barack Obama is on the world stage with an “almost” endorsement from French President Sarkozy, meeting with Chancellor Merkel in Germany, PM Brown and leaders of the other parties in England and this is the best we get from John McCain.

We visited McCain’s website earlier in the week and they have a parody about Barack Obama and the press falling in love while viewers are offered a chance to vote for their favorite song. McCain staffers must have decided it was as pathetic as I did and apparently took it down.

This from a man who wants to be President looking more like he needs a dental cleansing than a candidate while his opponent prances around the globe well scripted and being praise by world leaders.

Now it’s being reported John McCain said he thinks Barack Obama’s proposed timetable for withdrawal in Iraq is on the right track, even though the Arizona senator spent the last week hammering Obama for his military plans. Obama calls for a 16-month troop withdrawal timetable and is sticking to that plan after his magical mystery tour in the Middle East and Europe.

In an interview with CNN, McCain had kind words.

“I think it’s a pretty good timetable, as we should — or horizons for withdrawal,” he added, echoing a phrase President Bush used in recent days. “But they have to be based on conditions on the ground.”

McCain has long maintained that conditions on the ground are a key consideration in any withdrawal of American troops. And he has argued that Obama would withdraw troops based on his timetable without regard to conditions in Iraq, although Obama says he would listen to U.S. military commanders about those conditions.

This may be the ultimate flip-flop and the Bush administration has handed Obama their own diplomatic turn for consumption and use for the Leftist’s benefit.

Obama, who is wrapping up his weeklong tour of the Middle East and Europe, said in London that:

“We are pleased to see that there has been some convergence around proposals that we’ve been making for a year-and-a-half.”

Obama has promoted his Iraq strategy during his 10-day tour across the Middle East and Europe. He’s also called for the redeployment of some U.S. soldiers to Afghanistan to combat the Taliban’s and al Qaeda’s growing insurgency there.

“And in terms of his comment about maybe 16 months sounds good, we are pleased to see that there’s been some convergence around a proposal that we have been making for a year and a half,” Obama said Saturday after meeting British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

“The fact that John McCain thinks that we now should put more troops in Afghanistan, I think is a good thing,” Obama added at a press conference at 10 Downing Street, the British premier’s official office and residence.

Throughout Obama’s overseas trip, the senator has sought to portray the Republicans as following his lead on key foreign policy issues. In addition to Iraq, Obama has praised the Bush administration’s decision to send a high-ranking State Department official to directly engage Iran over its nuclear program this month.

“The fact that the Bush administration assigned Bill Burns, outstanding diplomat, to get involved in the talks surrounding Iran, something I’ve been advocating for over a year and a half, I think that is a good thing” Obama said.

What side am I on? I’m not sure anymore, the Bush’s and McCain’s seem to be working on the Obama plan. Indeed!

  1. Angry African Says:

Maybe McShame should start torealize that you don’t need to visit Iraq to know it was a War in Error. And him having been in the military doesn’t give him a free pass to play politics with the troops.

  2. Liberally Conservative Says:

But aren’t you thoroughly confused? It was Barack Hussein Obama playing politics with the troops.

No camera’s = no photo-op = no trip to visit wounded troops.

Visit troops in Afghanistan and Iraq = no press microphones = no press camera’s = Obama choreographed photo-op. How convenient.

McCain on tarmac in New Hampshire = one reporter from local newspaper.

Hmmmmmmmmm……what’s missing here? It’s called the press playing into Obama censorship.

    We call that Socialism!

  3. Joe C. Says:

Basically, B. Hussein presided over an anti-America concert, rally, and eurotour. Who do you think those 10-200 thousand people at the concert/campaign stop were? They were all the anti-America euroleftists supporting their fellow traveler.
