Obama Should Grab One of Those Great Jobs He’s Creating or Saving

by @ 11:34 am. Filed under Economics, Govt. Regulation, Labor, Politics, Taxes, U.S. Constitution

It was February 11, 2009, on a windswept hilltop at a Virginia construction site. The dust blew around and Barack Hussein Obama made a promise:

“Here in Virginia, my plan will create or save almost 100,000 jobs, doing work at sites just like this one. Where we’re standing, that could mean hundreds of construction jobs. And the benefits of jobs we create directly will multiply across the economy.” “

Nevermind that the Obama administration has never legitimately explained how you “save” job nor has any economist worth his or her salt proven how that is done. In addition, government doesn’t really create jobs, they may help business by cutting taxes and allowing for reinvestment of additional profits and job creation but this government is in the business of killing jobs while it kills the economy.

Isn’t it the owners of the development company and construction companies at the site Obama stood at who create the jobs? Why is Obama always attempting to take credit for something he can only diminish not create? Why? Because Mr. Obama is a pathological liar!

Running shockwaves through the White House the Obama administration was very quiet about the recent numbers announced concerning “jobs created or saved.” In fact, the Leftists in the people’s House also announced they would be dropping the term “jobs created or saved” because they more than likely are tired of the fraud. Instead, the folks at Obama, Inc. will post only a count of jobs for each quarter.

The new rules came out last month in a little-noticed memo (PDF) sent to federal agencies by Peter Orszag, director of the Office of Management and Budget. OMB said it changed the guidelines to prevent the kinds of errors and confusion that occurred when the first job counts came out in October.

But Rep. Darrell Issa of California, the top Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said the Obama administration is making the job numbers even more misleading and is trying to pump them up by counting jobs that weren’t created or retained. He outlined his concerns in a letter (PDF) Friday to the government’s stimulus watchdog, Earl Devaney.

“I think ‘jobs created or saved’ has simply lost all its credibility,” Issa said in an interview. “It was opportunistic accounting from Day One.”

From an auditing standpoint, I can attest from professional knowledge, the “opportunistic accounting” would and should land someone in jail, possibly starting at the top. Afterall, this resembles Enron accounting nothing recognizably legitimate at the AICPA or FASB.

Here is an example of jobs “created or saved” from ProPublica:

Labor reported Friday that the economy continued to lose jobs in December, for a total of 2.7 million since the stimulus was passed in February. The White House council says that number would be 600,000 to 1.5 million higher without the stimulus. Was the White House using a cheap Ouigi board purchased at a DC flea market.

If the “stimulus” is so grand why hasn’t it all been spent? From the approximately $792 billion dollars only $164 billion has been spent, $150 billion is in process, $267 billion is left to spend, $93 billion tax cuts have been issued and $119 billion tax cuts remain. (Source: Government Agencies and ProPublica Research)

According to an Associated Press analysis reviewed by independent economists at five universities, the $20 billion spent nationwide on infrastructure so far “has had no effect on local unemployment rates.”

There has been talk about a second stimulus package so the economy can be pushed back into October 1929.

“My bottom line is, I’d be skeptical about putting too much more money into a second stimulus until we’ve seen broader effects from the first stimulus,” said Aaron Jackson, a Bentley University economist.

How could anyone discuss a second stimulus package while the first one isn’t spent and up to now is not working at anything except prolonging the recession and driving up the debt?

“As a policy tool for creating jobs, this doesn’t seem to have much bite,” said Emory University economist Thomas Smith, who supported the stimulus and reviewed AP’s analysis. “In terms of creating jobs, it doesn’t seem like it’s created very many. It may well be employing lots of people but those two things are very different.”

Pushing more good money after bad won’t result in anything positive.

“It would be unlikely that even $20 billion spent all at once would be enough to move the needle of the huge decline we’ve seen, even in construction, much less the economy. The job destruction is way too big,” said Kenneth D. Simonson, chief economist for the Associated General Contractors of America.

Every dollar the government is spending to “stimulate” the economy has to be taxes or borrowed from the very economy the politicians say they are working to enhance. Rush Limbaugh had it correct when he said the stimulus money is nothing more than a slush fund to pay off people to get their ilk reelected.

It’s really not about the economy but that next great election. Hopefully, the next two elections will serve clean the House, Senate and White House so the politicians won’t “save” their jobs and American’s can keep or create one for themselves. Indeed!
