In spite of repression by the Basiji thugs and the West’s short attention span, the Green Revolution lives on in Iran. Tens of thousands of protestors yesterday braved police batons and tear gas canisters.
It was the 30th anniversary of the hostage taking at the US Embassy in Tehran, their message was to a large degree intended for America and Barack Hussein Obama. The opposition hijacked the day, typically an occasion to denounce the “Great Satan”.
Earlier this year, before the huge demonstrations in the wake of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s brazen theft of the June presidential election, one popular opposition chant was, “O ba ma!”—in Farsi a play on the new American President’s last name that translates as, “He with us!”
The Democratic protestors and opponents of tyranny were terribly mistaken for Barack Hussein Obama doesn’t side with Democrat forces abroad. In Honduras the Obama administration wanted a Hugo Chavez clone reinstated as president after he was legally removed from office.
Obama refused to back the pro-Democracy crowds who dared to protest with the possibility of arrest and death as an alternative. Instead, Obama appeased and placated the tyrants asking for negotiations and talks. Obama claims he doesn’t get involved with the internal affairs of forein countries but Honduras was different because the pro-democracy groups were displacing a thug and Obama decided it was opportune to back ex-president Zeyala, Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Daniel Ortega, and FARC.
Obama issued his own statement the night before the protests that instead chose to reach out to the regime. America, he said:
“…seeks a relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran based upon mutual interest and mutual respect. We do not interfere in Iran’s internal affairs.”
He went on to list the Administration’s various efforts to appease the regime. So far and on all counts, the mullahs have rebuffed these entreaties. Obama made no mention of democracy or reference to the opposition directly, though in the last paragraph he did allow that “the world continues to bear witness to [Iranian peoples'] powerful calls for justice.”
In Obama’s case this would be bearing false witness as he advocates tyrants not pro-Democracy citizens. Indeed!

It makes sense you’re talking about anything other than the death spiral your national party is in this week.
