Barack Hussein Obama made many promises as did his Czars and other related ilk now running the Socialist program yet calling it the people’s business.
Mr. Obama promised the stimulus would do much for the US economy and needed to pass immediately if not yesterday so jobs could be created now not tomorrow. OOPS, the failure is significant, the backtracking profound and the lying worse.
February 2009:
“I think my initial measure of success is creating or saving four million jobs.” He later proclaimed the stimulus’s $787 billion would “go directly to . . . generating three to four million new jobs.”
Sunday – July 12, 2009
Obama’s stimulus “was, from the start, a two-year program.”
National Economic Director Larry Summers said:
“You’ll see the effects begin almost immediately.”
Obama’s Council of Economic Advisors issued an official analysis showing that the unemployment rate would top out in the third quarter of this year at just over 8%.
Mr. Obama assured the American people that most of the stimulus money:
“will go out the door immediately.”
Unemployment is now 9.5%, up from 7.6% when Mr. Obama took office. Don’t even try to blame George W. Bush, this is Obama’s game now.
2.6 million fewer Americans are now working than there were on the day Mr. Obama was sworn in. Uh, Uh, not GWBs fault. Obama owns this!
Obama is now reading off his teleprompter that unemployment will exceed 10% this year, and his advisers say it will remain high through much of next year. Sorry, not GWBs fault!!
Only 7.7% of the stimulus money has been spent in the six months since its passage with an array of excuses being made. It may now take up to eight years to spend the first $787 billion and there is talk of a second stimulus passage.
Saturday, July 11, 2009:
“We also knew that it would take some time for the money to get out the door,” Mr. Obama said over the radio reading from prepared script.
Let us now quote George Orwell as a nice comparison to Mr. Obama and his double-talk:
In his 1946 essay “Politics and the English Language,” Mr. Orwell wrote about words used in a “consciously dishonest way.” “That is,” Orwell wrote, “the person who uses them has his own private definition, but allows his hearer to think he means something quite different.” (Source: WSJ)
Obama is an expert at deceiving his audience, indeed!
UPDATE!
If you don’t like deceit or double-talk then the Saul Alinsky hand book recommends threats and intimidation:
RULE 9: “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist.
and health care, the White House is shooting back with a double-barreled message for its critics and skeptics.
To Republicans who say the stimulus isn’t working: Back off.
Earlier this week, the administration launched a coordinated effort to jam Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl, an Arizona Republican who’s argued that the government should “cancel the rest of the stimulus spending.” No fewer than four Cabinet secretaries wrote to Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer — also a Republican — to ask her if she agreed with Kyl that it was time to turn off the state’s stimulus spigot.
“If you prefer to forfeit the money we are making available to your state, as Sen. Kyl suggests, please let me know,” wrote Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. For good measure, he attached a three-page addendum listing each of the Arizona projects paid for by the $521 million the state is getting.
White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel directed that the letters from the Cabinet secretaries be sent to Brewer, according to two administration officials. And then the DNC made sure other Republicans saw the message being delivered to Arizona by touting the letters.
“If Republicans want to bash job creation in their own home states for political purposes, that’s their choice, but we aren’t going to hesitate to point out that they are putting their party’s political strategy above good jobs for the people they were elected to represent,” said Democratic National Committee spokesman Hari Sevugan. “And we sure as hell aren’t going to let Republicans or their allies get away with misleading anyone about the jobs being created by the recovery act.”
A senior administration official put it plainly:
“You can either be for the recovery act or against it.”
Kyl responded by accusing the White House of threatening his state.
“It’s unfortunate that President Obama and his administration seem unwilling to debate the merits of the stimulus bill and acknowledge its shortcomings,” the senator said in a statement.
“Instead, they have resorted to coordinated political attacks with the [DNC] and the politicization of departments of government by using Cabinet secretaries to issue thinly veiled threats to the governor and the people of Arizona.”
“The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Indeed!
