In a set of “talking points” on the Trinity United Church of Christ web site, Wright proclaims himself an exponent of “black liberation theology.” He cites James Cone, a distinguished professor at New York’s Union Theological Seminary, whom he credits for having “systematized” this strain of Christianity.
Here is a quote from Cone, explaining black liberation theology:
Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community. . . . Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.
Mr. Obama continues to reject the Rev. Wrights vitriolic sermons now that the evidence is out and plans a major speech tomorrow concerning race. We call this “Olympic Backpedaling” at it’s finest.
Rich Lowry at National Review writes before he ever thought he would have to deploy Clintonesque spin to try to get himself out of a campaign controversy, Barack Obama wrote (an achingly good) memoir. In the book, Obama makes it clear that Wright when he first got to know him was pretty much the same Wright we’re getting to know now (the one that Obama is at pains to say is on the verge of retirement).
Lowry further notes that Obama’s 1995 memoir, “Dreams of My Father,” cites a Wright sermon called “The Audacity of Hope,” the title of which Obama borrowed for his own campaign slogan. Without evident disapproval, Obama quotes a passage from that sermon in which Wright describes “a world . . . where white folks’ greed runs a world in need, apartheid in one hemisphere, apathy in another hemisphere…That’s the world! On which hope sits!”
As we wrote in the post below, like the fisherman who lost the “big one” and retells his story over the years the fish grows bigger. Unfortunately for America and the people who believe in Mr. Obama’s promise of “hope and change” the story is a big lie. Stay tuned because this fish is about to grow bigger. Indeed!

this man is as racist as anyone. let a white preacher talk like this and see what happens. can’t people see him and Obama for what they really are? He says he is a man of god but preaches hatred for other races-Obama has let this man influence his thinking for 20 years, add that to Obama’s association with Farrakan and what do you have? How about the ANTI-CHRIST ?

At the very least, belonging to such a church shows very poor judgment on Obama’s part. At worst, Obama is a racist of the worst kind.

It’s hard to believe that Mr. Jeremiah Wright Jr. could even be considered a Reverend
after such blasphemous remarks like, “If God is not for us and against white people, then he is
a murderer, and we must kill him,” Race issues because race problems when we divide ourselves
between “black” and “white.” Racism is everyone’s problem and as Mr. Jeremiah Wright has proven
black people can be just as racist as white people. A spirit of cooperation and
responsibility for ones own actions are what is needed for this country to progress and abandon
racism.

This guy ought to lose his job, just like Don Imus did….such a double standard in this country. Blacks can get away with anything, while whites pay for everything.
March 20th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
He can’t lose his job because he retired.
However, Rev. Wright is being honored at Texas Christian University.
See Article: Texas Christian University Moves Venue for Rev. Wright Tribute.
How warming. Indeed!

Here’s an article that really explains Black Liberal Theology. It is evaluated and examined, and ultimately refuted.

THERE IS NO WAY THAT OBAMA DOES NOT SUBSCRIBE TO HIS PREACHERS
DICTRINE AFTER LISTENING TO IT FOR 20 YEARS.IF THE AMERICAN ,BLACK
,WHITE BROWN AND YELLOW DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THIS MAY GOD HELP US ALL
IF MY PREACHER PREACHED ONE WORD OF HATE HE WOULD BE GONE, OR I WOULD..

It has become very clear that the White’s that have commented so negative about the various sermons obviously have not listed to them in their entirety. Therefore, it leads me to conclude that racism is alive and well in America. To say that Obama subscribe to all of Rev Wright’s teaching is akin to saying that all Whites are still racists because they learned racism for the parents, and forefathers that support Jim Crow and the lynching throughout the south for the last 400 years.
After you listen to the sermons, please tell me WHERE DID Rev. Wright LIE?
March 24th, 2008 at 11:45 pm
You tell me, Dr. Carter, where did we accuse anyone of a lie?
We are talking about church sermons that teach and espouse hate. Rev. Wright is certainly guilty of this so you miss the point or want to not see the truth you so fear.

I believe Jesus is disappointed in Rev Wright because my GOD is not one who shows hate towards the other races I know he is targeting the white people and using his position for spreading his hate message instead of helping to heal OLD wounds. I guarentee you he has never been a slave nor has he even suffered because of it if any thing he seems to be profitting from it by continueing to shows his true feelings and the bigot that he is is
March 27th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
Rev. Wright certainly “profited” as we see here.

Obama can only be one of two things – Either he fully believes in the words of his spiritual advisor and is lying to further his agenda or he has involved in this church for 20 years, donating $22,000 to it’s cause having no idea what it is about…which would make him just plain dumb. Obama urges people to give to charity and ” share prosperity ” when he gave less than 1 % until he decided to run for president. Jeremy White is the black equivalent of the deceased Richard Butler, but, if anyone candidate as much as drove past Hayden Lake they would be out of the race as Obama deserves to be. I won’t be guilted into voting for someone only because they are black as many people say they are doing. I happen to notice he has no clear policies and I hope the ” rock star ” struck people do their research before they drink the kool aid.

Dr. Carter, did you choose your parents? I didn’t. I think that most people do choose a church and pastor…

How about reading Rev. Wright’s entire sermon; not bits and pieces, but the entire sermon.
June 2nd, 2008 at 4:06 pm
How about getting of the Liberal Obama Kool-Aid? Nothing Wright said was justified and Obama just couldn’t bring himself to admit it entirely. Probably because Obama believes it and feels this way in his heart. Michelle Obama certainly expressed herself and we read her whole pathetic thesis as well as listened to her speeches.
We’ve heard enough of Rev. Wright without parsing or condensing and Wright and his spiritual student dislike America and are racists and bigots. If fact, watching the whole Trinity congregation fairly well depicts their feelings as well.
