Good riddance to the 111th Congress, the worst Congress in at least 80 years, the most damaging Congress to American Constitutional principles in at least 80 years.

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

The oath above will be taken by all 435 members of the House of Representatives today but for Democrats and many Republicans that oath to the US Constitution has meant little.

When John Boehner (R-OH) takes the gavel from the Leftist Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and assumes his position as Speaker of the House this will be one of the sharpest ideological shifts in at least eight decades.

What about respecting the words, the rule of law, the United States Constitution? What have prominent Democrats said in the past?

In September 2009, then-Majority Whip James Clyburn (D–SC) told Fox News: “There’s nothing in the Constitution that says that the federal government has anything to do with most of the stuff we do.”

In October 2009, a reporter asked then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D–CA): “Madam Speaker, where specifically does the Constitution grant Congress the authority to enact an individual health insurance mandate?” Speaker Pelosi shook her head dismissing the question: “Are you serious? Are you serious?”

In April 2010, then-Representative Phil Hare (D–IL) responded to constituents asking about Obamacare: “I don’t worry about the Constitution on this to be honest.”

# In August 2010, Representative Pete Stark (D–CA) told constituents asking if the Constitution limits Congress in any way: “The federal government can, yes, do most anything in this country.”

We do worry about the Constitution. We do believe elected representatives have a duty to worry about not following the words of the Constitution. We don’t believe the federal government can do most anything in this country although history has proven us wrong. And yes, we are serious.

Who is WE? Conservatives for one. People who see the freedoms and liberties enjoyed in America slipping away. WE THE PEOPLE, the one’s who are paying attention, writing and calling our elected officials. The ones voting and issuing term limits to those who ignore the US Constitution.

Republicans have set new rules in the House so legislation will follow the Constitution. Republicans are promising huge spending cuts and either a repeal of Obamacare or a step-by-step stripping of the legislation through non-funding and legislation changes. Barack Obama will fight any efforts to change his centerpiece of his first two years in office. Republicans must not waiver, the people have spoken.

Specifically, Republicans in the House must:

(1) freeze and cut spending,
(2) repeal Obamacare,
(3) stop the Obama tax increases,
(4) protect America,
(5) get control of government, and
(6) follow the US Constitution.

Our Constitution is a document of limited, enumerated powers, forming the architecture of our liberty. It is the way “We the people” control the government. The Republicans of the 112th Congress have promised that every bill cite the Constitutional power given to Congress to enact it.

Leftists, similar to the people writing at the New York Times feel this is an “air of vacuous fundamentalism.” Abraham Lincoln would disagree:

Let reverence for the laws, be breathed by every American mother, to the lisping babe, that prattles on her lap—let it be taught in schools, in seminaries, and in colleges; let it be written in Primers, spelling books, and in Almanacs;—let it be preached from the pulpit, proclaimed in legislative halls, and enforced in courts of justice. And, in short, let it become the political religion of the nation; and let the old and the young, the rich and the poor, the grave and the gay, of all sexes and tongues, and colors and conditions, sacrifice unceasingly upon its altars.

Rules are a nice thing but sticking to your rules says you are principled in your efforts. America needs the new GOP to stay principled and to reverse the Leftist ideology that has begun to drastically transform America and its Constitution into a test case for the Communist Manifesto. That is unacceptable. Indeed!
