War On Terrorism Is Over – “Law and Order: Jihadist Intent”

by @ 11:06 am. Filed under Foreign Affairs, Law & Justice, National Security, Politics, U.S. Constitution, War on Terror

The fight against terrorism is over in America, we now have the latest installment of “Law and Order” titled “Law and Order – Jihadist Intent” and producer Dick Wolf has an opportunity for one more show to attack Sarah Palin and lick the boots of Barack Hussein Obama.

The US government under Obama has barred the phrase “war on terror” yet has acknowledged that a failed Christmas day bomb attack on an airliner was a terrorist attempt. The only reason the passengers of Flight 253 are still alive today is because Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s syringe detonator failed.

Pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN), the explosive Mr. Abdulmutallab tried to detonate aboard the Northwest Airlines flight, is among the most powerful of explosives in the world and was widely used to blow up airplanes in the 1970s and 1980s.

PETN was used in the device worn by British “shoe bomber” Richard Reid, who is serving a prison sentence for attempting to blow up a Paris-Miami airliner in Christmas week of 2001.

PETN is easily detected and Mr. Abdulmutallab’s father warned the U.S. embassy in Nigeria about his son this past November. US sources confirm a file was opened, but say the information did not warrant placing the accused on a “no-fly” list.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano had appeared on television yesterday and said “the system worked” and that the suspect was properly screened. The “system worked?” Where is Dick Cheney and George W. Bush when you need them?

278 innocent civilian passengers on flight 253 could be dead today but for a faulty syringe and the Obama administration considers that a success. This is pure idiocy in its highest form. Idiocy that is a direct threat to the security of this country and that goes to the heart of the Obama administration’s approach to the war on terror. Oh, excuse me, there is no longer a “war on terror.”

Obama and his ilk continue to demonstrate that they believe counterterrorism is a law enforcement problem to be managed, not a war to be won. This is the same mindset of the Clinton Administration and the Janet Reno Justice Department starring Jamie Gorelick which worked so hard to give us 911.

Brian Jenkins, who studies terrorism for the Rand Corporation, says there were more terror incidents (12), including thwarted plots, on US soil in 2009 than in any year since 2001 and marked the 28th foiled terror plot against the United States since 9/11.

It seems what Mr. Obama “inherited” was a security appartus he deems unworthy and wishes to return to the old ways of fighting a Jihad via law and order not counterterrorism.

This increasing terror tempo makes the Obama Administration’s reflexive impulse to treat terrorists like routine criminal suspects all the more worrisome. It immediately indicted Mr. Abdulmutallab on criminal charges of trying to destroy an aircraft, despite reports that he told officials he had ties to al Qaeda and had picked up his PETN explosive in Yemen. The charges mean the Nigerian can only be interrogated like any other defendant in a criminal case, subject to having a lawyer present and his Miranda rights read. (Emphasis LCs)

Ms. Napolitano is one more example of incompetence streaming out of the Obama administration. was saved not because of the antiterror “system” but because the explosive failed to ignite and because a Dutch passenger and flight attendants acted heroically to subdue the man, put out the fire and detach the explosive. Flight 253 was saved not because of the antiterror “system” but because the explosive failed to ignite and because a Dutch passenger and flight attendants acted heroically to subdue the man, put out the fire and detach the explosive.

The US should be fighting a multi-front war on terrorism not treating terrorist attacks as if they are routine law enforcement issues. The Flight 253 incident was an intelligence failure. Instead of focusing on convictions, the Obama administration should be focusing on gathering the intelligence necessary to best protect the American people.

Instead of Miranda readings and a lawyer Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab should be visiting with the CIA and “relaxing” on a waterboard. Indeed!

This post should give inspiration to all from stopping the Terrorism.

On the whole, I’m not very keen on politics in general – however, now and then we all have to pay attention. There are several excellent arguments debated here, and I’m paying attention – thank you.
